alone together was composed by arthur schwartz and howard dietz for the 1932 musical “flying colors”. it was first recorded in a jazz setting by artie shaw, and has become a popular jam session tune.

all the things you are is a jerome kern composition with lyrics by oscar hammerstein, composed for the 1939 musical “warm for may”. it is a favorite amongst jazz musicians for its unique harmonic structure and slight twists on the standard song form.

a popular song from 1912 written by ernie burnett and george norton, it was first performed by william frawley, who later played fred mertz on the sitcom “i love lucy”.


this is an attempt at a multitrack recording - there are several different bass tracks overlaid on top of one another, with a walking bass line, harmonies, melody, and solo. recorded september 30, 2009, in setagaya, tokyo.
